The Deluge
I was a small boy travelling home from swimming club with my brother John.
We got to West Wickham Railway station,
a 20 minute walk from home when a
summer storm opened and released a
deluge of rain.
Standing in summer clothes under scant
shelter we quickly became damp, cold
and scared. Then through the pouring rain
we saw the tail-lights of a car,
it was our father - came to find us,
but he was driving away!
We ran after the car to no avail,
then we returned to our place of shelter,
wet through and frightened.
We just stood there and shivered.
That was when it happened!
A Peace and Trust flooded into me,
taking me over completely.
I felt wonderful!
I was beyond harm - God had saved me!
Presently the storm passed.
We just walked home.
